It is a psychological short story that describes a partnership between the main character - a noname woman, and her partner - Filip. Filip likes drinking alcohol and frequently he drinks too much so that he is not able to walk home on his own. Therefore his girlfriend is like his rescuer who helps him with walking and sometimes she even has to haul him. Such bad conditions of Filip make her mad and very badly influence their relationship. Unfortunately it is not the only problem in their partnership. The main character leaves every week to work in the city of Jihlava and thus they can only see each other at weekends. Moreover, she likes to be self-sustaining and independent, which is somehow in contrasts with his concept of living together, to get married and have kids. The Profile of Contemporary Publisher:HOST
Lukášová, Barbora ; Halada, Jan (advisor) ; Čeňková, Jana (referee)
In this thesis I try to outline running and production of the contemporary publishing house Host. The publishing house Host was established in 1990s' but the magazine Host, whose legacy the publishing house carries, has been working for several decades. The publishing house Host and the magazine Host have been coexisting simultaneously and shared almost the same editorial team. For that reason it is not quite possible to separate one from the other. In the first part of this thesis I introduce the initial existential period of the magazine Host from 1920s' to its samizdat publication in 1980s'. In the next part I try to ouline the beginning of the publishing house Host leaded by Dušan Skála in early 1990s'. The current shape of the publishing house and the magazine has been formed since the second half of 1990s' under the leadership of Tomáš Reichel and Miroslav Balaštík. In the main part of my thesis I try to describe the contemporary work of the publishing house Host which I make mostly through its book production. I also try to point out the transformation of the publishing house Host from a narrowly focused publishing house to a publishing house whose production can excite even a mass readerʼs interests. The aim of my thesis is primarily to introduce comprehensive description of publishing...

Stoszková, Šárka ; Halada, Jan (advisor) ; Sekera, Martin (referee)
The thesis "Looking through the lens of the Czech daily newspaper Mlada fronta for 65 years" examines the topic of the liberation of Czechoslovakia in May, 1945. The qualitative content analysis of selected texts available from the newspaper is used to explore the interpretation of the event in Mlada fronta. The thesis has concentrated on the development of attitudes, beliefs, ways of communications and journalistic transformation of media content concerning the liberation event over time. The main objective has been to answer the question as to whether the media portrayal of the event has remained constant or altered over the stated time period and which factors influenced the portrayal. In the conclusion of this thesis we can confirm that the monitored event has been described differently in different time periods respectively, in connection with political progress and the value of democracy in the country. The more totalitarian the regime, the more the newspaper has described freedom through preferred ideology, biased themes, dogmatic posture and offered interpretations that suited the ruling party. This indicates a form of totalitarian hegemony. During periods of greater totalitarianism, the newspaper tends to describe the theme of the freedom completely within that communist ideology. However,...
